How to Make Your Billy Goat Equipment Last

Billy Goat makes high quality lawn care equipment, but even the best built machines will break if they aren’t taken care of. These tips will help you keep your Billy Goat running reliably for years to come.

Fuel

Modern fuel degrades quickly. Ethanol will separate from gasoline over time, and it’s hygroscopic, which means it absorbs moisture. On the other hand, ethanol-free fuels don’t benefit from the additive’s solvent abilities, allowing it to lacquer fuel lines and carburetors, turning them into a sticky mess. Regardless of which fuel you use, it should be treated with a fuel stabilizer if it’s stored for more than a month. Even when treated, fuel should be disposed of if it’s more than three months old. Billy Goat Utility Trailer

Billy Goat makes great commercial lawn care equipment, but that high-quality construction also makes their devices extremely heavy. What’s the easiest way to get that equipment to the work site? Their own 372001 Utility Trailer. It’s built specifically to handle even their largest walk-behind lawn tools, making loading, securing, and unloading as simple as possible.

Capacity

The bed on the Billy Goat utility trailer measures 3 ft x 5 ft, and it can support loads up to 550 lbs. That’s enough to handle the AE1300H 30-inch Hydro Aerator, Billy Goat’s heaviest piece of walk-behind equipment. Continue reading

Billy Goat LR500 Overview

Have a piece of Billy Goat walk behind equipment that you need to move? Hate having to maneuver trailers and push big equipment up steep ramps into the bed of a truck? Billy Goat has your solution: the LR 500. This loading ramp turns your vehicle’s trailer hitch into a floating platform that you can use with ease.

How Does it Work?

The LR 500 has two no-slip ramps that pull out of the right side of the platform and rest on the ground. Once lowered, the equipment can be wheeled up onto the platform and tied down. These ramps are designed to work at a range of angles, so the height of your vehicle’s hitch and the height of the ground doesn’t matter: it can work just as well on a 4×4 pickup next to pavement as it will on a minivan next to a hill. Once the equipment is loaded, the ramps slide back into the platform, locking into place for transport.

How Do I Install the LR 500?

Simply slide the tongue into the hitch, insert the locking pin, and slide the ramps into place. The LR 500 is made out of aluminum to keep down weight, which means the entire unit tips the scales at just 70 lbs. That weight can be further reduced by temporarily detaching the ramps from the platform, so you don’t have to lift the full weight of the unit up to get it into your vehicle’s hitch. Operation Tips for a Billy Goat AET60 Tow Behind Aerator

Lawns need ready access to air and water at the root level to keep the grass healthy, but this access can be hindered by compacted ground. Billy Goat’s AET60 Tow Behind Aerator breaks up the dirt using a series of sharpened tines that punch through the ground, bringing the air and water back to the turf. These tips will help you get the most out of this trailer from hooking it up to your tractor correctly to ensuring the aerator is used in optimum conditions.

Staying Safe

Do not operate this aerator on slopes greater than 15 degrees. When traveling across a hill, move at an angle to keep the tractor and aerator as level as possible. Never park on a slope.

If there is excessive vibration, stop using the trailer immediately. Check the aerator for loose hardware or lodged debris and repair any issues before putting it back to work. Continue reading

Billy Goat Model: AET60 Tow Behind Aerator

AET60_Manual_Lift_500x500Foot traffic and construction can pack down dirt, keeping the root system of your lawn’s grass from accessing the air and water it needs to stay healthy. Billy Goat’s AET60 brings that access back by coring plugs from the soil to break up the surface, yet its non-motorized design and adjustable packaging allow it to be towed by most mid-size lawn mowers and tractors. That means it’s sturdy enough for commercial use while still being within the reach of consumers.

Quality Aeration Done Quickly

Capable of handling speeds of up to 5 mph, this aerator can break up as much as four acres of soil per hour. Each tine can punch holes up to four inches deep, pulling out cores for maximum air and water contact. The tine assemblies cut a 6 x 7 inch aeration pattern. Continue reading

Billy Goat AET48 Tow Behind Aerator Model Overview

Need to aerate a lot of turf? Billy Goat’s AET48 Tow Behind Aerator is the perfect tool for the job. Its modular design allows it to be outfitted for quickly breaking up acres of compacted soil or downsized for getting through tight spaces. Simplified maintenance and an easy to remove ballast system also make it easy to handle when it’s not in use. Best of all, it can be towed by most compact tractors and lawn mowers.

Adjust the Width to Fit the Job

The “48” in the model name refers to the unit’s standard 48-inch width, but that width can be adjusted to better fit the job at hand. The tine system is broken up into 24-inch modular units. One unit can be used for narrow paths, both units can be used together for more ground cover, or a third unit can be added with the optional AET expansion kit, letting you aerate a 72-inch strip of soil with each pass.
